“Tell me that and we’ll go. Right now. Save ourselves and leave this place to burn. Tell me that’s how you want your story to go and we’ll write it straight across the sand.”

Dustwalk is an unforgiving, dead-end town. It’s not the place to be poor or orphaned or female. And yet Amani Al’Hiza must call it ‘home’.

Amani wants to escape and see the world she’s heard about in campfire stories.

Then a foreigner with no name turns up, and with him she has the chance to run.

But the desert plains are full of dangerous magic. The Sultan’s army is on the rise and Amani is soon caught at the heart of a fearless rebellion…

An epic story of swirling desert sands, love, magic and revolution.Goodreads

And it’s finally working!

After almost pulling all of my hair out yesterday, I managed to get the whole self-hosting thing sorted out. It only took about 24 hours, no sleep and a lot of screaming in frustration. Tip: if you’re thinking of starting a blog and have plans to self-host, just do it from the start.

BUT it was worth it. I’m pretty happy with how SugarQuills looks right now. I went ahead and made new feature images for all my reviews so you guys can see the book cover and rating straight away. The SugarQuillsBoutique link in the menu bar will now take you to a page displaying my Etsy listings (you can get 5% off with the code THANKYOU01 until June 30th), and there’s SO MUCH MORE COLOUR NOW.

If anyone wants to know where the unicorn is from, you can get it from here. I just changed the colour 🦄

Yes, I installed an emoji plugin and yes I will abuse it in every-single-post.

My Summer TBR List

divider3I’ve been trying to sort hosting out since yesterday and have been putting reading aside in favour of playing Runescape, so I haven’t got a book review for this week! I decided to write up my summer reading list instead so I can maybe get back on track. But the thing is, my TBR list is freaking ginormous; it could probably wrap itself around the world multiple times. I may even be able to walk on the damn list as a bridge to the sun (anything is possible, okay?)

I usually like making summer reading lists, even though I hardly ever complete one because ‘side-track’ is my middle name. So, for the sake of tradition, here’s a summer reading list I’m probably not going to complete (but will try to). Link me your TBR lists in the comments so I can check them out!

Listening to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

51UxZpJlzOL._SL300_‘Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring) brings a palpable sense of joy and exuberance to her performance of Lewis Carroll’s enduring classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. From the White Rabbit and Mad Hatter to the Cheshire Cat and Queen of Hearts, she imbues each madcap character with a distinct voice and personality that will leave a lasting impression long after the adventure is over.

One hundred and fifty years after its original publication, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland remains one of the most widely read, deconstructed, referenced, and reinterpreted works of Western fiction. It tells the story of the young and imaginative Alice, who grows weary of her storybook, one “without pictures or conversations”, and follows a hasty hare underground – to come face to face with a host of strange and fantastic characters.’ – Audible

My Favourite Online Bookshops

As comforting and beautiful brick-and-mortar bookshops are, sometimes it’s just more convenient (and cheaper) to buy your books online. My obsession with stockpiling books carried on during my uni years, so I had to find a more affordable way to buy crap loads of books on a budget. I always exceeded that budget anyway, but I still spent far less than I would have if I didn’t buy online from the following bookshops.
