Encounter by Linda Dobinson
I was sent a copy of Encounter by the author for an honest review.
Encounter is a collection of (mostly free verse) poems about love, nature, and life. Unfortunately, these poems weren’t for me. I wasn’t impressed by the collection, but there were little things here and there that made me smile.
Conspiracy of Angels (Shadowside #1) by Michelle Belanger
I was sent a copy of Conspiracy of Angels by the author for an honest review.
Conspiracy of Angels has a gripping blurb and I thought I was going to really enjoy it, but the book itself wasn’t as gripping as its blurb. That ‘spark’ that draws you in and keeps you glued to the page was missing.
The story itself was fast-paced with a lot of action scenes; there weren’t any stalls and I didn’t feel like the story was dragging. However, I didn’t like the main character – he was flat, and because of that, I didn’t care for him or what happened to him. Which was why I wasn’t interested in the plot despite all the action.
Since it was a review copy, I did try to go back into reading it a few times but it just kept putting me in a reading slump, that’s why I gave up after 210 pages. Conspiracy of Angels has some amazing 4+ star reviews on Goodreads (average rating is 4.06), so I’d recommend having a browse through those too, just in case this ends up being the right book for you.
