I found this tag on Just Muddling Through Life. I’m not sure who originally created the tag so I can’t credit them unfortunately.
You’re going to see quite a few Harry Potter mentions from me throughout July because I’m planning to host a giveaway on the day The Cursed Child script is out
1. Favourite book
My first Harry Potter book was Prisoner of Azkaban. I found a half-beaten copy of it amidst a pile of junk in my cousin’s bedroom when I was a kid. A few pages of intense reading later, I asked my aunt if I could borrow the book. Prisoner of Azkaban is where it all started for me and that’s why it’s my favourite book. I’m glad I didn’t judge the book by its cover that one time!
2. Least favourite book
Goblet of Fire. Mind you, I do still love the book but I love it least because of the lack of Hogwarts Quidditch! I loved the addition of The Quidditch World Cup but I missed my dose of Gryffindor vs Slytherin on the pitch. How can you even Hogwarts without Quidditch?
(Yeah I know there’s no Quidditch in Deathly Hallows either but Harry’s no longer at Hogwarts so it’s different.)
3. Favourite movie
I loved the warm tones in Philosopher’s Stone, and it was the movie that stayed most true to the book.
4. Least favourite movie
I have a love/hate relationship with Prisoner of Azkaban. I didn’t like the camera angles, it felt too camcorder-ish to me. It’s my favourite book but the camera angles in the movie get on my nerves. Especially at the beginning when Vernon Dursley opens the door to Harry’s room and when Marge walks through the front door.
5. Favourite quote
ONE quote out of SEVEN books?! This is hard. One of my favourites is:
6. Favourite Weasley
Fred and George (they count as one right?). Their exit from Hogwarts was hilarious in Order of the Phoenix but a part of me was gutted to see them go, they added to the Hogwarts charm.
7. Favourite female character
I loved Hermione throughout the series; she was brave, smart and loyal. She remained true to herself and continuously stood up against discrimination whenever she came across it.
8. Favourite villain
Bellatrix Lestrange, there was something untamed and truly insane about her.
9. Favourite male character
Sirius Black was (and still is) my favourite character. He’s the epitome of an amazing friend; the guy remained loyal to James years and years after his death. He was also the only character who thought Harry deserved to know everything, he didn’t believe in censoring things from Harry and treated him like an adult. And this scene:
10. Favourite professor?
Remus Lupin. He gave students chocolate, what isn’t there to love?
11. Would you rather wash Snape’s hair or spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself?
I’d rather listen to Lockhart rant about himself, but I’d be in a foul mood the whole time.
12. Would you rather duel an elated Bellatrix or an angry Molly?
Bellatrix because she’s predictable in duels, you know she’s going to throw the darkest spells at you straight off the bat. Molly is scarier when she’s angry.
13. Would you rather travel to Hogwarts via Hogwarts Express or flying car?
Considering the damage the Whomping Willow did to the flying car, I’ll stick to the Hogwarts Express, thanks.
14. Would you rather kiss Voldemort or give Umbridge a bubble bath?
Ew. I’m not sure what giving someone a bubble bath entails, I’m guessing it’s just filling a tub with soap and water? If that’s the case, sure I’ll give Umbridge a bubble bath, and I’ll try not to drown her.
15. Would you rather ride a Hippogriff or a Firebolt?
I’d pick Hippogriff because, despite my love of Quidditch, a broomstick sounds awfully uncomfortable to sit on and Hippogriffs are flaaaffy.
16. Is there a character you felt differently about in the movies?
I really liked Ginny in the book; her character development was interesting and you actually got to witness it. Ginny noticeably grew into a witty, funny and fierce young woman. In Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince you repeatedly read about how powerful some of her spells were and there was a funny incident on the Hogwarts Express where she caught Slughorn’s attention after hexing someone.
The movies put Ginny in a corner, so her sudden growth and relationship with Harry were random and odd. Her character was ignored for the most part; you saw some of the magic she was capable of but missed out on most of the hilarious things she said in the books. I think this was why so many people didn’t like Harry and Ginny as a couple too.
17. Is there a movie you preferred to the book?
No, the books always trump the movies. Mostly because the movies skipped out on a lot of what happened in the books.
18. Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?
Harris was a lot closer to my mental interpretation of Dumbledore. I was taken aback by Gambon’s appearance in Prisoner of Azkaban but got used to him eventually.
19. Your top thing (person or event) that wasn’t in the movies but you wanted to be?
Dumbledore’s back story! This was a MAJOR miss. I still feel really off about them deciding to cut out the details of what happened between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. Also, Winky the house elf. I was really looking forward to seeing a drunk house elf, that was also when I noticed Hermione’s SPEW efforts had conveniently been left out of the movies. Not cool.
20. If you could remake any of the movies, which would it be?
Deathly Hallows parts I and II. I’d like to include the information about Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
21. Which house was your first gut feeling you’d be part of?
I always thought I’d be placed in Ravenclaw because I value intelligence and knowledge.
22. Which house were you actually sorted into on Pottermore?
Pottermore placed me in Gryffindor. I guess I’m more Gryffindor than I thought, so it’s cool.
23. Which class would be your favourite?
Defence Against the Dark Arts would be my favourite class because I’m a curious person. Transfiguration is a close second.
24. Which spell do you think would be most useful to learn?
Accio because I always forget where I put things!
25. Which character do you think you’d instantly become friends with?
I think Tonks would be someone I’d get drawn to straight away. Her table manners help.
26. If you could own one of the Hallows, which would it be?
I don’t feel like I’d ever have the need to use the Elder Wand, a regular wand would be able to do anything and everything I could ever want; I wouldn’t want to use the Resurrection Stone because I can’t think of any good coming out of that. I think I’d get the most use out of the Invisibility Cloak; I could use it to sneak up on my cat.
27. Are there any aspects of the book you would want to change?
I wouldn’t want Sirius to die. If he had to, I would have preferred it being in Deathly Hallows during the Battle of Hogwarts as that would have fit him better. I didn’t believe he was really dead and stayed in denial until Deathly Hallows when he was pulled out of the Resurrection Stone because his death scene was so sudden and mysterious.
28. Favourite Marauder?
If it’s not obvious by now, Sirius Black aka Padfoot.
29. If you could bring one character back to life, who would it be?
30. Hallows or Horcruxes?
Hallows, the Horcruxes have zero appeal. I can’t do anything with a Horcrux damn it.
I tag anyone who wants to do this tag!
